Since 2005, we have served economic development organizations across the country. This is a list of some of the organizations we have had the privilege of serving and continue to serve.

MBG was retained to provide executive search services and provide interim economic development services for this West Texas economic development agency.
Balch Springs, TX— the firm completed the Economic Development Strategy of Action including marketing, business attraction and retention/expansion.  The firm provided on-site staffing for the Balch Springs 4B group with 20 hours per week in the community. The firm was retained for two years and has completed multiple assignments including a Strategic Planning Workshop for the departments within the city.
MBG was retained to provide special services to the Bastrop EDC.  Updating and implementing the Strategic Plan and the Program of Work are among the services MBG was retained to provide.  The firm will also provide advice/counsel to the EDC.
The Blanco City Council retained Mike Barnes Group to serve as its Project Manager for the Blanco Streetscape Project.  MBG will provide funding, demographic, and technical information relative to the project.  MBG selected Adams as its engineering/development services partner on the project.
MBG was selected to develop the Economic Development Strategic Plan for this Texas Panhandle community.  The Plan includes marketing, targeted business and industries and overall program of work for the BEDC.
Bowling Green, KY— the firm was retained to provide research on a special project.
The Brookshire, Texas Economic Development Corporation retained the Mike Barnes Group to serve as its economic development consultant.  The firm provides marketing, negotiating, site evaluation and comprehensive economic development services for the Brookshire EDC.

Mike Barnes and Jon Chara of Workforce 1 Partners presented to the California Workforce Association in San Diego during April, 2010 regarding the linkages of Workforce and Economic Development issues.
The Mike Barnes Group was retained to provide leadership to the organization’s Strategic Planning Retreat.  The firm assisted in the development of the organization’s Mission Statement, defining the role of the organization, partners, and allies, and identification of the areas of focus for the organization.

MBG provided a Community Assessment and then served on retainer as an economic development consultant.

MBG was retained to provide leadership to the City Council of Buda workshop on economic development issues.
The city of Falfurrias, TX has retained MBG to provide leadership on special economic development projects
MBG was retained to serve as this Houston Metro community’s economic development entity. The firm provides prospect leads, negotiating services and marketing services for the City of Huntsville.

MBG was engaged to provide a Strategic Planning Workshop for the City of Willow Park.  MBG directed the Mayor, City Council and administrative team through this process with a specific eye toward economic development and the upcoming budgeted priorities.

Crandall, TX, EDC retained MBG to serve as its economic development entity.  MBG provided a Community Assessment for Site Selection and a myriad of economic development services for the agency.
The Development Authority of Rockdale County (Georgia) retained the Mike Barnes Group to provide a Critical Analysis and Strategic Directions as part of an overall “What Path Should the County Follow?”  project.

MBG provided a day-long workshop for this Houston Metro community

MBG served as Interim CEO and provided executive search services. Subsequently, MBG was retained to provide ongoing economic development services.

MBG provided strategic planning services to this Oklahoma economic development agency.
The Mike Barnes Group was selected to provide the Economic Development Strategic and Marketing Plan. This represents a multiple assignment from the EDCLC. The firm has enjoyed multiple assignments with the EDCLC, including a CASS, advise/counsel and marketing assistance.

The firm was engaged for 9 years and one of MBG associates was hired full time to be the Executive Director.

The Mike Barnes Group provided economic development leadership to the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce Planning Workshop for 2009/2010.
MBG was retained to provide an economic development strategic plan for this South Texas community near the Port of Corpus Christi.
MBG provided an economic development workshop for this community’s economic development agency addressing their strengths and weaknesses related to economic development.
The Groesbeck, Texas Economic Development Corporation retained the Mike Barnes Group to serve as its economic development consultant.  The firm develops prospects, negotiates, markets, and identifies those economic development issues that are important to the community.  The firm also provides a Community Assessment for Site Selection (CASS). The firm provided 20 hours each week in staffing of the EDC.

MBG conducted an executive search for this San Antonio Metro community.

MBG served as the economic development entity for this West Houston agency.

Establishment of the Marketing and Development Department, cataloguing of sites and buildings, ongoing advice/counsel on economic development matters.  The firm was retained for three years and recently provided a Labor Analysis for the Hillsboro EDC.
Waco, TX– the firm was engaged to provide site selection assistance and incentive negotiation assistance on a major project in Tennessee
Mike Barnes served with the IEDC team after the BP Oil Spill to develop economic development solutions for Escambia County, FL in this crisis.

MBG provided an Economic Development Strategic Plan for this East Texas community.

Retained MBG to provide leadership to their Strategic Planning Workshop held in Beaumont.
The KEDC retained MBG to provide executive search services for this DFW Metro Community’s Executive Director of Economic Development.
The firm served as the economic development staff for the City of Lacy Lakeview.  The firm provided economic development leadership to projects located within the city. The firm was retained for three years.
Mike Barnes provided leadership to the Foundation Board’s Workshop/Retreat in terms of identifying Strengths/Weaknesses/Opportunities/Threats as it relates to LIT.
MBG was subsequently retained to provide this West Texas economic development agency an Economic Development Strategic Plan.

The Lufkin EDC retained the MBG to develop a Market Evaluation and Action Plan for this East Texas community.
Mathis, TX, EDC retained MBG to provide a Community Assessment for Site Selection with an emphasis upon this South Texas’ downtown.
MBG provided advice and counsel on economic development matters to this Central Texas economic development agency.
The Mike Barnes Group partnered with Workforce 1 Partners to conduct a workshop on Economic Forecasting in Regional Economies for the Michigan Works Association.
MBG assisted this East Texas agency with a special recruitment project.Terrell, TX, EDC—MBG provided executive recruitment services for this East Dallas Region community located in Kaufman County
Mike Barnes provided the keynote address to this statewide business advocacy group.
The NEDC retained MBG to serve as the agency’s virtual economic development entity.  As part of that engagement, MBG provided a Community Assessment (Strategic Plan) including marketing, targeted businesses and industries and overall program of work.

Orange, TX— the firm, in partnership with an Austin company, established the Strategic Plan providing for the marketing, fund-raising, and overall guidance and direction of the economic development effort.

MBG was retained to provide an economic development workshop oriented toward this agency’s Program of Work, goals, and overall strategies consistent with its Strategic Plan.
The firm was engaged to complete an Economic Development Strategy of Action containing marketing, business attraction and retention/expansion.  The firm served as the economic development staff for the city for a two year period.

MBG provided an executive search for this North Austin agency.

The firm was retained to provide the day-to-day management of this real estate investment/development company.
Seagoville, TX, EDC retained MBG to provide an executive search for their Executive Director.

South Central Michigan
Works retained Workforce 1 Partners to provide a comprehensive analysis and trend
projection for the South Central Michigan Region in terms of its workforce needs.  Workforce 1 Partners, a nationally recognized expert in the field of Workforce, has asked the Mike Barnes Group to assist in the economic development portion of the project.  The Workforce 1 Partners team consists of Jon Chara, Tim Condon, and the Mike Barnes Group.

SETEDF has retained the MBG to establish a regional economic development effort. The SETEDF consists geographically of Jefferson, Orange, and Hardin Counties. The organization selected the Mike Barnes Group from a number of economic development consulting firms submitting proposals. The firmpreviously provided strategic economic development services in Orange County in the aftermath of Hurricane Rita. The firm’s experience in dealing with post-hurricane issues and regional economic development efforts were cited. Mike Barnes, President/CEO of the MBG stated, ” We are very appreciative of this opportunity. This dynamic region has tremendous assets including billions of dollars of industrial infrastructure in place coupled with location attributes to attract numerous additional diversified companies.” MBG provided Community Economic Development Strategies in 2010 and 2015 for the agency.

MBG has provided multiple assignments for this regional agency including Post Pandemic Economic Development Strategy and Community Economic Development Strategies.

Workforce Solutions of Southeast Texas retained the Mike Barnes Group to provide a Workforce Intelligence System for the three county region of Texas that includes Hardin, Jefferson, and Orange Counties. The firm partnered with Workforce 1 Partners to initiate the first 3 phases of this 4 phase project, which will integrate workforce development and economic development activities. The firm served as the SEDC’s economic development entity. Stafford’s location within the Houston Metro, coupled with the unique fact that Stafford does not levy property taxes serves as a major foundation for its economic development effort.

Stephenville, TX Economic Development Authority retained MBG to provide an executive search for its Executive Director and to provide ongoing economic development services for the agency.

Triad Hospitals and the Seton Family of Hospitals, the leading provider of health care services in Central Texas, have formed a joint venture to construct Seton Medical Center Harker Heights in Bell County.
The approximately $100 million, 180,400-square-foot, 83-bed hospital opened June 2012. Ground-breaking was scheduled for the first quarter of 2011. The hospital campus will include a 60,000-square-foot medical office building being developed by Rendina Companies, one of the nation’s largest full-service healthcare real estate development firms, in joint ownership with the many specialists who will occupy the building. “We are proud to join Seton in building this new hospital to serve the health care needs of Bell County and the surrounding area,” Dan Moen, LHP CEO, said. “The hospital will feature a full-service emergency department plus acute-care services including women’s services, obstetrics, cardiology, surgery, oncology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, imaging and diagnostic services, general medical and surgical services, and intensive and critical care. The Mike Barnes Group appreciates the opportunity to serve LHP Hospital Group as its economic development consultant in its incentive negotiation process.

MBG provided us an end product that included reinforcement of some thoughts that we shared, as well as some direction that I would consider more outside the box in relation to our expectations. I would recommend the use of MBG for plans such as the one we have recently completed, and consider (MBG) to be a valuable ally and resource in the field of economic development moving forward.
